Time has flown these last two years through all the planning, parties, and announcing I can finally say my husband and I have tied the knot. So we decided the best option for us was a destination wedding! Many people are on the fence about destination weddings due to the inference that they won’t be able to incorporate things that mean a lot to them. For instance music, and flowers but I can guarantee you that it is very possible to get what you want and more with a destination wedding.
Losing someone so important to you before they could see the many milestones you still have to go through is tough. So when I was a little girl dreaming about this magical day… it was my father walking me down the aisle and giving me away. To not have been able to have that honor made me realize I had to do something to make it feel right even if only for sentimental reasons.
We had our ceremony on the beach facing the crystal blue ocean. Not a cloud in the sky and the crisp cool air against everyone’s face. The I Do’s were made under an arch that was decorated with pastel colored flowers. Something that meant a lot to me was to include certain kinds of flowers for my bouquet; I used sunflowers and roses. This is something that meant a lot to me to incorporate because I wanted to feel as if my father was spending this magical day with me. So the best way I knew how to was to include our favorite flowers we grew together.
When it came time for the reception we had it on the pool terrace and it was a night of none stop dancing. A very important aspect my husband and I was music we wanted to be able to have modern music along with a few oldies but goodies. They were able to meet our musical needs with a DJ and we also wanted some fun Mexican music so we had a mariachi band perform for around 45 minutes and they really brought the life to party!
Although bittersweet, it was the best day of my life and I think my husbands too!
As you could see bringing a touch of home is very simple to do with a destination wedding! So get excited and get planning!
